Can a Ten Year Old Get a Debit Card or Credit Card?

Can a ten year old get a debit card or credit card? This is a 3 part answer: No, Yes, and Yes! It all depends on how the question is asked. If you are asking as to whether or not you could have your own bank account and debit card, the answer would be no. However, if your parent is able to add an additional debit card onto his or her account for your use, then the answer may be yes depending on the banking institution. Another option is a prepaid debit card- a really awesome choice for kids. You can load your money at several different stores (and some banks), use the card almost anywhere like a debit card, and you can withdraw money if needed. However, there may be fees associated with this.

Can a Ten Year Old Get a Job?

Yes, and no. You can work for yourself, doing odd jobs for people. You will find TONS of examples on this website that will help you. However, you cannot (at least in America that is) work for an establishment legally. Child labor laws do not allow this.

Can An 11 Year Old Babysit?

As long as a an 11 year old has plenty of experience with children, and the preteen is capable proving his or her maturity, he or she can babysit. However, I recommend at least 2 weeks worth of training if the preteen is going to be babysitting young children. This should also be very short babysitting sessions; perhaps 30 minutes to 2 hours. An 11 year old probably shouldn’t babysit overnight; this shouldn’t start until approximately 13 years of age.

Can 13 Year Olds Work?

In some parts of the world, kids can begin working at the age of 13. However, in America, you must be at least 14 years of age in order to be hired by an employer legally. Instead, you could be a farmhand (helping out on a farm), or performing any other job that we have listed here on the website. Many children who grow up in the country will take up a farmhand job until they are old enough to get a “real” job.

Who Hires 15 Year Olds?

There are actually several places who will hire 15 year olds! Usually, these places are going to be fast food joints. Which, isn’t bad for your first job. Fast food is HARD work; it will teach a 15 year old the value of a dollar and what an honest day’s work is. Then, when the teen becomes 16, he or she can find a different job at places such as Walmart, Kroger, Toys R Us, and many other department, grocery, and general merchandise stores.
