Super Spring Edition: Springtime Jobs for Kids!
Now that the oh so beautiful spring season has arrived, it’s time to bust open those blinds, swing back those windows, blare some music, and clean while the crisp spring breeze blows all around you! Every single one of you might moan and groan at the thought of cleaning; but if you have ever cleaned like this, then you know just how revitalizing, energizing, and fun it CAN be if you let it! Here is our final line up for the big spring jobs that any kiddo can do!
Getting Those Gardens Weeded for New Spring Seedlings
Everyone loves a garden full of fresh, juicy vegetables and fruity, floral displays that take the nose on a vacation to a far away place; but, the hard work must be done to see the benefits, something many people just don’t want to do. Almost anyone will pay you to weed their gardens, and some of those people will pay a LOT of money in order to avoid it. Try charging $10- $15 per hour depending on the size of the garden. The bigger it is, the less you charge. For small gardens that may only take an hour, try charging $20. It’s an annoying job, so it can pay well.
Dusting High and Low
When people do spring cleaning, one of the biggest things they forget to do is dusting. Offer to dust people’s homes for a low cost. It’s a super easy job, but it just gets forgotten amongst all of the other cleaning. Ensure that you build a nice list of items to dust, as you do not want to forget anything. Here’s a good list to start off with:
- Ceiling Fans
- Crown molding
- Lamps
- Televisions
- Consoles (gaming, movie, music)
- Collectibles
- Shelves
- Wall art
- Picture frames
- Tops of Cabinets
- Bookshelves
- Curtain rods
- Blinds
- Doorway Moldings
- Etc.
Dusting Yards for Pests & Bugs
When spring comes, critters follow suit. There will be bugs and pests coming from every corner of the yard, waging war on the family and the home. You can offer a special yard dusting service for the people in your neighborhood! There are particular pesticides that are sprinkled, or dusted, onto yards to eliminate ants, ticks, fleas, spiders, and other crazy pests. Be sure that you figure in the cost of the product as well as how long it takes you to do each yard. BE SURE THAT YOU WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AT ALL TIMES AND ASK YOUR PARENTS BEFORE YOU EVEN CONSIDER A TASK LIKE THIS. You will need gloves, a face mask, goggles, and boots. You don’t want to get any chemicals on you.
Painting Fences as a Job for Kids!
Everyone loves painting; it’s fun, and it’s relaxing! Painting does require a bit of patience and skill (which you quickly get the hang of), so be prepared to work on this sort of task all day, if not for several days. Fences need to painted once every 1-5 years, as the sun fades the colors and the weather chips away at the paint. Paint can become expensive, but I would recommend that you insist that the customer purchases the paint. This way, you don’t have to purchase it and the customer gets the color they want. It also allows them to store the rest of the paint for the following year.
